OpenOffice.org translations for 2.0.1

2.0 is in release phase now. From the translators point of view, it is finished. Now we should move on to 2.0.1.

Translators using POT system should update their PO files to SRC680_m134.

The deadline for translations is November, 03 (two week from now)! See the release plan for 2.0.1.

If your language is already in my build system, please do not forget to update your GSI link regularly to get the latest GSI in the regular builds I do (check update_gsi_files file for your language, send me patch).

After every build is uploaded, check for existence of the file GSI_xy.sdf.err in build directory, because this contains error messages from gsicheck. See e.g. GSI_mk.sdf.err file. This way you can check your GSI without having to build OpenOffice.org at all. I do not inform responsive people about errors in their file.

If you have any questions, ask on IRC or in the mailing list dev@l10n. -----

My son, magician

Michal with Magician's cap While doing some house cleaning, we found a magician's cap. Do not ask me, where we got it ;-) My son Michal really likes it. Have you ever seen someone more happy than Michal is on the photo?

We enjoyed his first steps on the grass. Unfortunately he thought that my minigolf balls are also his balls ;-) -----

Funny dependency graphs

I explored various ways to create dependency graphs using free tools only. So far we had to use proprietary software and as I wanted to see the dependency graph of modules in OpenOffice.org, I decided to see what free software or open-source tools are available.

The third tool I tried was Graphviz. It is really powerful - see its gallery for example graphs.

The result of my work is a simple shell script that walks over prj/build.lst files and generates a graph from them (it can generate many formats, but I generated PostScript and PNG only).

Of course, several minor issues are there ;-) As always. The graph contains also StarOffice only modules (top, moz_prebuilt, print_header) and they stand-up from other stuff, module crashrep depends on module tools only for StarOffice. Very interesting module is xmerge. My build on GNU/Linux never enters it. Its size is 7.2MB etc.

The visualization is only approximative. I'd like to print it, but it looks like it is harder than I thought :-) -----

SRC680_m132 is ready

The next development milestone SRC680_m132 is ready. The following child workspaces were integrated: ab17fixes, ause037, calcbinfilter, cmcfixes17, cmcfixes19, dr37, extras22, fwk21, ivo14, nativefixer18, nativefixer19, shellfix03, sj23, sj24, swqbf35, tbab, tbe23 and vcl39.

If you are building using community build environment, please remember to take the change from #i55389#. It will be integrated into next milestone.

While downloading the source code from CVS, watch out your tunnel for messages like
channel 2: open failed: connect failed: Connection refused
channel 2: open failed: administratively prohibited: open failed
and enjoy them... -----

I have to rework fetching GSI files into my build system

I started the update of GSI files and:
  • OpenOffice.org site was down -> et and sk files were not fetched
  • Macedonian's vladoboss.softver.org.mk doesn't respond
  • Norwegian's developer.skulelinux.no doesn't exist at all
Hmm, any idea? I have already added log file from my update script, so you can check the results yourself.

Update: I have already received two notices from Norwegian users, that I could use also different URL to that machine (they have DNS problems right now). Thanks! -----

New issues feed suspended

I have decided to suspend new issues feed. Reason: OpenOffice.org website these days is not able to answer simple IZ read accesses, so I can't create the feed. -----

My notes about OOoCon 2005 in Koper, Slovenia

I'll put various notes about OOoCon 2005 in Koper, Slovenia here.

My trip to Koper started on Monday evening, when I packed and took my wife and son to Brno to visit my mother-in-law. Tuesday in the morning, Adam and Jiří were already waiting for me before Delvita in Brno. I had to visit petrol station to start with full tank and also to buy some beers for our friends. Interspar in Koper had them too, BTW ;-)

According to ViaMichelin, the trip from Brno to Koper should take 6 hours, 42 minutes. I wonder how they get this time, but our trip took exactly 6 hours and 42 minutes... Hmm.

Wednesday was full of meetings: CC, ESC, NLC. Other members of our team went to Venezia, IT to see how "the flood on purpose" looks like...

Several interesting meetings/discussions with Fridrich (I have never met anybody like him before ;-)), Damian, Eike, Michael, Caolan, Stefan, Martin, Rene, Javier, Radek, Kendy, Petr, Joerg, Laurent, Eric and others. Very interesting (and looong ;-) beer meeting with Eike, Stefan, Fridrich and Erwin. Erwin cheated though because he was sleeping while others were discussing important issues and he re-joined us at the end again.

The total number of kilometers: 1377. Average fuel consumption: 6.9 l/100 km. There are *wonderful* highways in Slovenia (new with nice sceneries). We have seen policemen with camera and radar. One hill after we tested the maximum possible speed of our car ;-) I hope my wife is not reading my blog, though.

Extremely wonderful media coverage thanks to Cyberpipe.

Many thanks to organizers!

I'll continue updating this blog entry once I remember all I wanted you to know ;-) -----

OOO680 vs SRC680 milestones

Some people are still confused, what is the difference between OOO680 and SRC680 masters. The master SRC680 is the same as it was before. Ongoing development happens there. Right now, the latest milestone on it is m131, but m132 is already being prepared. On the other hand, OOO680 master is meant for the release of 2.0, so it will integrate only bugfixes (like hr19 child workspace).

Yesterday, I have changed my build script. I have removed 1.1.x stuff (almost) completely and now DEVEL=yes means SRC680 milestones and DEVEL=no means OOO680, thus 2.0 builds. -----
