Compile Linux kernel with Intel's compiler?

Although Linux author, Linus Torvalds, says that the official kernel compiler is gcc, several people tried to compile Linux kernel with Intel's compiler. There are patches available. Several people interested in Intel's compiler even did a mini benchmark on kernels compiled with gcc. For the whole story, ready the thread in the archive of Linux kernel mailing list.
